Process Overview
To summarize, we understand that a lot of details go into your project and are each unique. Below, we will apply the same basic steps to ensure we meet your project expectations. We do this not only for new clients but for all clients.
Specs.
Before we can move on to the next step, we'll need to have as many details on what you're looking for as possible. This is required for print, design, marketing or mailing. Most often, one of our sales reps can assist you with this phase. If your project involves marketing, we'll jump in right away in this step to see your project through successful completion. If you're not sure where to start, please don't hesitate to reach out to our estimator, Chip Templin, at estimating@colortechinc.com. You can also check further down this page for some spec checklists.
Estimate
After we have the details of your project, our estimator will send you a quote for your job within 1-3 business days. Let us know if it's a rush job, and we can expedite. It's important to read over this quote as it also has all the details of your job. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions to your sales rep or our estimator as some content may have abbreviations or technical terms not easily understood by all. *ALL CLIENTS MUST APPROVE QUOTES PRIOR TO PRODUCTION* You can reply to the quote email or contact your sales rep to give approval to proceed.
Files + Creative
Once an estimate is approved, if you're supplying files, please email everything, including any necessary documents or mail lists, to our customer service team at csr@colortechinc.com or through our File Upload portal. Meanwhile, if we're working on your creative, your job specs will be sent to our creative department, and they will work directly with you.
Proofing
Each project requires a PDF proof sent your way for approval prior to printing. Likewise, some jobs also include a hard copy proof, which will be delivered to you for approval. The hard copy proof must come back to us after your approval. This way, we can use it as a reference on color for our press team members in the final printing stage. [ 1-2 business days ] *All proofs must be approved before we proceed to the next step*
Print Production
Your project is off to print! A typical print timeline is about 3-7 business days for digital runs and 7-10 business days for offset, large format, mailing and bindery-intensive jobs.
Delivery / Mailing
Once printed, we will packaged your job up for shipping or send to our mailing department to finish out the remaining steps. We offer mailing services and carrier shipping as well as customer pickup and hand delivery.
Billing
Colortech bills your jobs after shipping or client pickup. Accounts payable, Tina Meyer, is available at 717-273-8107 Monday thru Friday from 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM to take phone calls and credit card payments. You may also come into our office for payment or mail a check. If you have questions with your invoice, please contact your sales rep or Tina at office@colortechinc.com.
Tools + Resources
Ready to send your files but are unsure of what we need? To clarify, here’s a handy checklist that helps our new clients rest easy. By following these steps, your job will run smoothly.
- Did you package your file to include the correct file formats? (PDF, Ai, Id)
- Do you have a print-ready PDF including bleed?
- Does your packaged file include fonts?
- Are all your colors in 4-color or PMS colors? Do you have all of your black-and-white images in greyscale?
- Are all your images the best they can be? 300 dpi or higher (we will print lower-res files, but the quality will be diminished)
If you meet all these requirements, then you’re ready to send us your file!
